South of the Nut (2020)

for solo alto recorder (4')

Written for and dedicated to Graham Ranft.

South of the Nut was written after a trip to Stanley on Tasmania's north-west coast. In particular, one cold, calm, grey afternoon spent
meandering along the beach that lined the peninsula.
It is written as a kind of 'nested fugue' over two movements, where 'subject/answer/etc' are present in both the micro and macro structure.

RECORDINGS (to be added)

I didn't have anything to put here

but it looked weird without text.
